Why VATTMATT?

When naming our aquameter, our founder, Ms. Sun, drew inspiration from the Swedish design philosophy she admires most—the same simplicity and functionality found in IKEA.

VATTMATT is a deliberate fusion of two Swedish words: "Vatten" (Water) and "Mät" (Measure). Much like the Scandinavian design we love, it represents our mission to strip away the complexity of plant care, leaving only clarity and precision.

Simple design. Steady growth.

After years of managing a professional nursery, Ms. Sun realized that the most frequent question from growers was always the same: "When exactly should I water?"

In the short term, water and temperature are the two most critical factors for plant survival. While temperature is easy to measure, "reading" a plant’s thirst remains an elusive skill.

After 18 months of rigorous testing across thousands of plants, Ms. Sun developed the VATTMATT aquameter. The breakthrough came from a high-density rigid fiber. Unlike soft wicks or polymers, this rigid material can be inserted into tough soil without collapsing its nanopores. Using capillary action, it draws moisture directly from the root zone to the indicator window with professional-grade accuracy.

But VATTMATT does more than just track moisture; it acts as a health diagnostic tool:

Green Tint: Indicates persistent dampness or moss growth—a warning for potential root rot or poor ventilation.

Discoloration (Yellow/Red/Brown): Often signals mineral buildup or the presence of harmful anaerobic bacteria, alerting you to refresh the soil.
